Have you tried every trick in the book to find an easy healthy weight loss program? I’ve been there and done that. I’ve tried skipping meals and high intensity weight training sessions but was unable to have any success until, one day I discovered information that’s openly available to everyone. You know what that information was? It was that the dieting portion of your program accounts for approximately 80% of your results! It was like a “light bulb” that turned on when I found this out. With this information I realized that even though I was working out everyday as long as my diet wasn’t maintained properly I wouldn’t have any significant weight loss. I also discovered that skipping meals or cutting specific foods out of my diet such as potato chips would lead to me overeating when I did eat them. I learned that you shouldn’t skip meals or specific foods. You just have to reduce your portions and when you can have unhealthy foods reduce those portions and have them less frequently. So, what’s this easy healthy weight loss program that I’ve found? Well, it all depends on your eating habits, your lifestyle and physical health. So, what’s good for me might not be good for you but a great dieting program can enable you to have easy healthy weight loss by allowing you to small changes in your diet with great results. You want a dieting program that provides flexibility and customization because my physically strengths, needs and weaknesses are different from yours. What I have found out is that by choosing the proper dieting program you can experience weight loss because your diet is responsible for 80% of your results. Therefore, I have since put heavy emphasis on what I eat and my food portions. That is not to say you don’t have to do any exercising but even if, you exercise everyday but your diet is terrible chances you won’t have any sustained long term weight loss. On the contrary if, you have a good dieting program but do minimal to no exercising you can have easy healthy weight loss. Ideally, you would want to include both but if, you specifically have weight loss as your primary goal than I believe you don’t have to do any exercising if, you’re unable to. How do you choose a dieting program that’s right for you? Make sure it’s flexible, simple in preparation and is affordable. This will allow you make minimal changes to your eating habits and budget but will produce great weight loss results. What do I mean by being flexible? It should have many combinations of foods and meals that can suit your taste. Simple in preparation means that it shouldn’t take you hours upon hours to prepare the meals because, you know and I know in life sometimes you only have 5 to 15minutes before you have to get to that appointment, your job or to your children’s activity program. Affordable means that the dieting program shouldn’t cost you $1000’s upon $1000’s of dollars. There are many programs that work and are available for under $100. You’ll be amazed when you find a dieting program that fits these criteria’s how easy healthy weight loss can occur and just imagine how happy, healthy and attractive you’ll be if, you pick the right program! One of the most common obstacles for a person trying to lose weight is emotional eating. Munching down a bag of potato chips out of boredom, depression or even happiness can be a serious detriment to anyone’s weight loss efforts. It’s not easy to overcome because life is full of events that make us change our emotions. You could be a month into your healthy weight loss program and feeling very good about it, then all of a sudden you get downsized from your job. The first thing you do is become depressed and drive yourself to the grocery store to get a package of double stuff oreos. You know comfort foods like this will only make you more depressed in the morning, but you do it anyway. If you want to be the kind of person who leaves the cookies on the shelf and focus instead on turning negatives into positives, the 6 tips below can help you. Emotional Eating Tip #1: Be PreparedAs I said before, no matter what kind of life you have, there will always be something about to happen that will make you sad or happy. These moments must be expected and the solution approached with caution. What do you do when you see a speed bump in the road? You automatically slow down because you know the consequences. You were prepared because you expected it. Just like you read road signs when you drive, there are signs in life that will tell you when something is about to happen. Emotional Eating Tip #2: DistractionsWhenever you are overjoyed or depressed about something, have a list of activities ready to take your mind off emotional eating. Keeping your hands busy doing anything besides reaching into a box of Cheez-its, is going to help you overcome your shift in emotions without eating. For me it is closing myself off to the world and practicing my guitar, playing a video game, or going for a long walk with my Ipod. By the time I am finished with any of these activities, I have usually found a solution or at least have calmed down. Emotional Eating Tip #3: Drink A Bottle Of WaterThis does not sound like something you want to do when you are extremely happy or angry, but water fills you up and makes you feel more full. Anyone on a healthy weight loss program should have a bottle of water handy at all times anyway. When you feel the urge to eat off your program, drink the water. Trust me, it works like a charm. A lot of times people mistake hunger for thirst. Your mind might be tricking you and telling you that you need to eat, when you just might need a drink. Emotional Eating Tip #4: Determine What Is WhatDo you crave a bowl of Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey ice cream or do you just need someone to talk to? When you’re struggling with a craving or feel driven to eat mindlessly, stop and determine what you are feeling. Condition yourself to learn the difference between physical and emotional hunger. I crave eating junk food any time something good happens and when something bad happens I tend to avoid eating. But when I am truly hungry, I will eat healthy foods. Emotional Eating Tip #5: Focus On The Consequences Of Your ActionsIf you stop and think for a minute what that Hershey bar will feel like after you eat it, you might start building up the will power to put it down. You know you will feel bad emotionally because you threw your diet off track, so eat something healthy and get full on that instead. Think about how tomorrow you won’t even remember the taste of it. Maybe that will make you want to eat the carrots instead. Emotional Eating Tip #6: Eat In The Same PlaceRemember the kitchen table? You know that piece of furniture that your monthly bills are usually scattered over? Clear it off and make a promise to yourself to only do your eating there, with no distractions like the tv, radio or newspaper. I know this is the age of multi-tasking, but  a lot of emotional eating occurs when we are distracted. Mindless eating in front of the tv is the worst, especially when it is done late at night. No matter what kind of life you have, there will always be problems, even people who are in great physical shape. They may be able to arrive at their problems looking slim and trim, but they have just as many obstacles as a person struggling to lose weight. No matter who you are, you must work your emotions by expecting these obstacles. By stopping emotional eating, you can eliminate about half of the obstacles people face trying to lose weight. Healthy Weight Loss Tips

January 12, 2010 by weightloss

The most successful, healthy weight-loss plans will require you to eat healthier and do regular exercise to help you lose weight and maintain your new figure. Supplements, diet pills, eating plans and exercise equipment on their own will not help you lose weight and keep it off long-term, unless you are dedicated to changing your lifestyle for the better.
According to the American Obesity Association, by losing a small amount of weight – around 5 -10 percent of your initial weight, you can reduce the risk of serious health problems like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure arthritis, respiratory disease and even some forms of cancer. Just imagine losing even more weight than this. The benefits and change in your life would be dramatic. But, how do you lose weight the healthy way and benefit from all the health related changes that come with losing weight the best way?
Weight-loss Programs (diets) – Healthy weight-loss programs combine eating nutritional foods with regular exercise to help encourage the body to convert stored fat in the body into glucose to act as fuel, so you are not only losing weight, you have more energy. Often, people get into the bad habit of yo-yo dieting, which is the act of losing weight, then gaining it right back and then start dieting again. By learning a healthy, easy-to-stick eating and exercise plan over a traditional diet, you will not only lose weight the healthy way, you will notice a raise in self-esteem, improved health and learn to keep weight off long term.
The only way that the body can lose weight is to burn more calories than your body is taking in. Do not make the mistake of thinking that just because you need to eat fewer calories, you have to eat less food. Healthy eating plans are all about educating yourself on which foods can be eaten in large amounts and which foods must only be eaten in small portions. But, most of all, it is important to remember that when you are losing weight the healthy way, you never need to starve yourself or go hungry. You just need to learn what different foods do to the body.
Some very popular diets these days are the South Beach Diet, the Mayo Clinic Diet and the Cabbage soup diet.
Weight-loss Supplements – there are many supplements available for those who are changing to a healthier lifestyle and want to have some extra nutrition or want a little help along the way. Just remember that no matter how good a supplement is, it will not take the place of proper nutrition and exercise. Diet pills are made to complement your weight loss goals while using a logical eating plan, as well as regular activity.
Vitamin and mineral supplements have become popular over the years to help our bodies get the vitamins and minerals that are lacking in the soil our foods are grown in. Many vitamins and minerals are great complimentary practices and will help to give you energy and an overall feeling of well being, as well as assist in the shedding pounds process.
Some well known diet pills are Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) pills, Phentermine (prescription), and Hoodia Gordonii.
A word of caution, before taking any supplement, make sure that you read the label carefully and speak to your doctor first if you are currently on any medications or suffer from any illnesses. How many times have you started a “supposed” healthy weight loss diet only to find yourself going back to your old eating habits a week later? You have good intentions, but every diet seems to limit what you eat to bland salads and tasteless fat-free versions of your favorite foods. You get to the point where you feel like this isn’t the kind of lifestyle you want for yourself, so you revert back to the foods that make you happy. If this has ever happened to you, don’t feel bad. Lots of people go through the same experience, myself included. I spent $2,000 on Nutri-Systems only to lose 60 pounds and gain 80 pounds right back. I got so tired of eating that cardboard tasting food they have, that I went right back to eating the same foods that made me put on the weight in the first place. What was missing was eating real food that did not give me the feeling that I was on “diet” and making the decision to lead to a healthy lifestyle. I finally lost that 70 pounds about 15 years ago and have kept it off ever since, and I can eat cheesecake as a desert choice on top of it! Why did it work that one time and not all the others? Because I realized that I needed to live a healthy lifestyle beyond making smart choices about food on a daily basis. No, cheesecake is not a smart choice for weight loss. But it doesn’t matter as long as I’m not eating it at every meal! Basically it all comes down to proper nutrition. When you give your body the right nutrients on a daily basis, even if it’s just for one meal, it allows you to cheat on occasion. No, I cannot eat cheesecake 3 times a day and expect to stay slim and fit. No one can unless you are under 20 and can burn calories faster than you can eat. But as you get older and your metabolism slows down, it does not mean you have to get fat. It just means you have to change your way of thinking and adopt a healthy lifestyle. My weight loss and ideal weight maintenance is the direct result of several choices I make on a daily basis, but it all started with one soy-based protein meal replacement shake. Skeptical as I was, I tried it and it worked because it had a money-back guarantee. The reason it worked was because it provided my body with 2,000 calories worth of proper nutrition in only 200 calories. That means that I would have had to eat a huge meal to get all the nutrients I got in the one shake. At first, I replaced two meals a day. Then, once I reached my ideal weight, I switched to just replacing one meal. Since I knew this was the best nutrition possible, I choose to have my shake in the morning because my body has been working hard all night processing what I ate during the day and needs to be able to get instant nutrition. This is not possible by eating ham and eggs for breakfast.  This has allowed me to eat sensibly throughout the day as I wish, and then splurge for dinner if I want to. Just as long as I go back to my nutritious shake every morning, everything works out fine. I know what you are thinking…you have to spend the rest of your life drinking a bland protein shake every morning for breakfast? The answer to that question is yes…and no. First of all, the shake comes in many flavors and can be prepared lots of different ways…and it tastes delicious! Most people skip breakfast…I drink a smoothie instead. Once you get the right nutrition in your body, you begin to feel so good that you can’t imagine starting off a day any other way. Remember when I said losing weight and keeping it off for good requires making healthy lifestyle choices? This shake I take every morning is one of them. Another is 30 minutes of cardio-vascular exercise every day. Just like drinking the shake, this became just as routine in my schedule as watching tv every night. It is possible to lose weight without exercise, but when you add it into the mix you are doing yourself a huge favor. Notice how I have not said anything yet about counting calories or weighing myself? That’s because it’s not necessary when you feed your body proper nutrition on a daily basis. Those are things that yo-yo dieters focus on and they never lose weight. They would rather follow fad diet and after fad diet to try to take the easy way out…but it’s not so easy is it? Cheaters never prosper and it’s no different for losing weight. You must learn to develop and healthy lifestyle. Diet and fat free versions of your favorite foods are often worse than the fatty versions because they are not natural. Anything all-natural is a smarter choice than something altered for the sake of convincing you to buy it for weight loss. The key is moderation. Part of living a healthy lifestyle is realizing you do not need to eat pizza and fettucini alfredo every time you sit down for a meal. It all comes down to making intelligent decisions about what you eat and how often you eat it. In order for you to lose weight and keep it off for good without constantly being on a diet, you have to decide that you need to develop the mindset of a person living a healthy lifestyle. Start with getting proper nutrition into your body, then begin making small daily choices in the right direction with exercise and food. Soon you will realize that a diet is nothing more than something that used to hold you back. Variety is the spice of life, and being content with living a healthy lifestyle is achievable when you can think outside of the box. When you are on a healthy weight loss program, the experience can get a bit bland sometimes if you don’t use your creativity to find ways to mix it up. Too many people quit before they give themselves a chance to find happiness with making healthy decisions on a daily basis. When it comes right down to it, there are things that you must do on any healthy weight loss program. The most important thing is proper nutrition. For me, it is in the form of a hot cup of green tea followed by a soy-based protein drink and vitamins every morning. That is how I lost over 70 pounds 15 years ago and that is how I have maintained an ideal weight ever since. What keeps me going outside of that? Variety! Once you have a firm grasp of what it takes to lose weight, you can begin using that knowledge to find different ways to get the same results. That way you are not eating the same meals and exercising the same way at the same times every single day. It’s great to have a routine, but if you don’t have variety, things can get very bland very fast. Here are 3 steps to help you add Variety to your healthy weight loss program. Step #1: Stick With What You EnjoyYou will never stick with something unless you find ways to include the things you love to do. If eating pizza is something you love, then you should not feel like you have to eliminate it just because it won’t help you lose weight. Pizza and other junk food is fine if it is eaten occasionally. Set weight loss goals to reward yourself once or twice a week with foods you love that might not have the greatest nutritional value. Just don’t eat them every day! Since exercise is a vital part of living a healthy lifestyle, adding variety in into your workouts is also beneficial. Not only does it allow you to avoid boredom, you’ll also avoid injuries and plateaus as well. Make the routines of your favorite exercises fun and filled with a variety of movements. Doing the same routines and movements over and over again won’t keep your mind interested or your body proportioned properly. I alternate between jogging, bicycle riding and roller skating. Step #2: Be creativeOnce you have a firm grasp of the kinds of foods that make a healthy weight loss plan successful, be creative with them. The soy-based protein shake I eat every morning comes in powder form. You don’t think I drink the same flavor every day, do you? I use my creativity to invent new recipes. The same thing happens with meals. Nothing is worse than trying to learn how to eat better by always having to choose the same kind of food prepared the same exact way. The same goes true for the exercise part of your healthy weight loss program. I mentioned that I alternate between different activities during the week. One way I add creativity to it is by choosing different routes and different distances. I also work out with different friends and listen to different music on the days when I exercise alone. Don’t limit yourself to a gym either. Get outside and appreciate your surroundings. There is a lot to see out there! Step #3: Stay CuriousNo matter who many different foods there are to eat, there is always something you have never tried. Whether it’s the way something is prepared or a tropical fruit you’ve never heard of, being curious about trying new things will always help you add variety to your healthy weight loss program. What happens when you are curious about something you have never tried? You either like it or you do not…but you’ll never know unless you keep an open mind and learn to trust your curiosity. There are so many advantages to being curious when it comes to exercise. It is the only way to build new muscles you never knew you had, develop new skills and meet new friends to work out with. If you have ever seen someone do something that you do not think you would like, just try it for sure and then decide. You might find that it’s something you enjoy enough to add into your mixed bag of exercises just for the sake of having even more variety. Sticking to a healthy weight loss program is extremely difficult without variety. If it was an easy thing to do all by itself, everyone would be walking around healthy and thin. But it is not. It takes a certain kind of mindset to reach your goals and if you are afraid of giving up out of the sake of boredom, it is time to add a little variety into the mix. Follow the three steps above and you will probably find yourself so busy trying new things that you will forget you are even trying to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle. An apple a day keeps the doctor away. We have all heard this a million times in our lives, but for some reason we would rather grab a double stuffed OREO when we feel like a snack. Would we be more inclined to eat this all-natural food if the saying was An Apple A Day Keeps The Fat Away? I think we would. We are a nation that puts quick weight loss fixes at the top of our priorities instead of focusing on our overall health. Living a healthy lifestyle is essential for not only losing weight, but maintaining an ideal weight so you do not need to trying fad diets. Apples have a variety of advantages that will keep us living healthy and fat free. Ever wonder why there are so many varieties of apples in the grocery store? It is because they are a perfect addition to your weight-loss plan and well-being for a number of reasons, and our earth wants us to be reminded of it. Weight Loss Tips #1: Apples are Low In Calories And FatCalories are calories, whether they are from healthy fruits and vegetables or a plate of fettucini alfredo. Since you lose weight when you burn off more calories than you consume, it is best to eat foods that will make you feel full without the calories. That is why an apple as a snack will not hurt your weight loss efforts like so many fat-free snack foods that are on the market. These foods contain lots of calories even though they are low in fat. Apples do not, thus killing two birds with one stone. Weight Loss Tips #2: Apples Contain CarbohydratesYes, you read that right. Contrary to popular belief, carbohydrates are not detrimental to weight loss. I am not recommending you go out and eat a box of Cheez-Its to get carbohydrates, however. Unlike packaged snack foods, apples will not trigger you to eat more than you need. Carbohydrates will give you lots of energy, and the more active you are the more calories you will burn. Since you want the fuel without preservatives and other artificial ingredients, apples are perfect. Weight Loss Tips #3: Apples Are A Good Source Of Fiber, Vitamins And MineralsThe healthier you are, the easier it is to lose weight. Your body can perform miracles when you provide it with proper nutrition. Fiber is a good way to curb your appetite, so eating an apple before a big meal will eliminate your desire to eat too much. Even though it’s not bursting with nutrients like some of the other fruits, apples are a good source of vitamin C, which in a round about way help prevent heart disease and the formation of some cancers. Weight Loss Tips #4: Apples Have A High Water ContentWhen a person is trying to lose weight, it is always best to focus on a diet of water-rich foods. Water is an extremely important part of weight loss, but not everyone likes to drink their share of it or they forget to. Eating water-rich foods like apples and other fruits will at least solve part of the problem if you have trouble remembering to drink enough liquids. Not only does water make you feel more full, but it does so without giving your body more calories. Weight Loss Tips #5: Apples Detoxifying The BodyApples contain enzymes that help your body digest food more efficiently. When your body is able to get rid of toxins, it becomes a healthier host for proper nutrition to do its magic. Apples are much cheaper than any detox program you will ever find, but you must remember that one apple is not going to make much of a difference. You need to make a habit of eating apples on a weekly basis if not daily, along with other foods that accelerate weight loss and promote good health. Since apples are low in calories and fat, and contain carbohydrates as well as fiber, vitamins and minerals, it is no wonder they can help you lose weight in different ways. Did I forget to mention that the fiber from apples helps you feel full longer because it expands in your stomach? Forgetting that probably has something to do with the fact that apples have even more advantages than our minds can remember. The most important part of losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is developing the mindset to support good habits like eating an apple instead of a Hershey bar. You have to be the kind of person who really believes that eating an apple will help you in all of these positive ways, and that the junk foods you are giving up as a consequence really are bad for you. Believing leads to action and action gets results. The kind of results you need for any healthy weight loss program all boils down to your beliefs. Everywhere you look, prices are going up and people are more strapped for cash than ever. You can not walk into a grocery store anymore and leave without spending at least ten dollars on things that used to cost mere pocket change. Milk. Bread. Eggs. Butter. It all adds up so quickly now, and people are realizing they need to cut costs somewhere. Unfortunately, most health foods are more expensive than pre-packaged foods that are not as good for our bodies. The first thing people will do is start eating Tuna Helper for dinner instead of chicken, steak or shrimp. If you are on a healthy weight loss program, and you do not want to eat Tuna Helper but want to save money, what do you do? If you think that a $100 weight loss program is not an option, you may want to think again! I personally lost 70 pounds in 3 months and have kept it off for over 15 years. After spending $2,000 at Nutri-Systems only to lose 60 pounds and gain 80, a $100 a month weight loss program was the last thing I wanted to buy. But since it came with a money back guarantee, I gave it a shot. Not only did it work, but I actually saved money! Here’s how… The first thing you must realize is that no healthy weight loss program is worth the money unless it is all-natural. What you put into your body is going to determine how you look and feel. There is no way around it. The majority of people who eat donuts every morning for breakfast are fat and unhealthy. Those who eat oatmeal instead are usually thin and healthy. Since the program I tried was all-natural soy-based protein meal replacement shakes with target vitamins, I was able to lose weight in a healthy way. Not only did I lose weight, but my severe asthma and allergies cleared up and I was able to get off all of my prescription medications. When you feed your body proper nutrition, it has the ability to heal itself and perform better. Each shake I drank was a meal replacement. The nutrition in each one was the equivalent of eating a 2,000 calorie meal, but I was only consuming 200 calories. You can easily see how this helps a person lose weight. At first I replaced two meals a day until I was at my desired weight, then I switched to just replacing one to maintain that weight. Why stop giving my body good nutrition just because I reached my weight loss goal? A meal replacement means you are not spending money at McDonalds, Starbucks or IHOP anymore, where you spend a minimum of $50 a week, and in the most generous circumstances. Most healthy weight loss programs cost about $100 a month, so you would be saving money and getting healthy at the same time. Even replacing one meal a day would still be cheaper than if you were not trying to lose weight but creating a healthy lifestyle. I know what you are thinking. Who wants to drink a bland milk shake for breakfast when you could be eating an oversized plate of caramel pecan waffles with syrup and whipped cream? The answer to that question is two-fold. First of all, the soy-protein shakes I drink are not bland. They come in a variety of flavors in powder form, and I can be as creative as I want to be with  them. I do not even need to make a shake, I can sprinkle it over cereal or mix it in yogurt. The second answer to that question is that what you eat is a matter of choice. Sure you can go out and eat those waffles, but you will not lose weight if you do. You spend about $10 to gain a few pounds. It will taste nice and yummy for the first few bites until you stuff yourself, but then you will regret not having the shake a few hours later when your blood sugar drops down lower than when you woke up. Since most healthy weight loss programs come in a month supply, you must pay for the whole month in advance. This is where most people think they can not afford to eat healthy, and it simply is not true. Do the math. Replacing two meals a day will save you how much money? About $150 if all you spend is $5 a meal. How much does each meal replacement cost if the total price is about $100 for the month? About $1.60. Is $1.60 per meal for a healthy weight loss program worth more than spending $5 a meal to gain weight? Only a person who is not serious about losing weight would say no. No matter what healthy weight loss program you are contemplating, you must first be committed to living a healthy lifestyle or else your money will be wasted. Once you make the decision to stick with it, weigh all our options and do the math. When times are rough like they are now, your first observation might be that you can not afford it. When you break it down meal for meal, then add up all the health benefits you will also get, you will probably find that you can make it work to your advantage. Cleansing has always had a place among humans, throughout all ages and cultures. For thousands of years, body purification has been a part of our rituals for health and well-being. It was also used in ancient times as a way to reconnect with God.
Diets have just been in vogue during the last 150 years or so. You can look at the word diet in different ways. It has that painful reference to cutting way back on all the foods you love. It also can refer to a set of foods you allow yourself to consume without limit.
Recently diet products and supplements have turned into diet “systems”. Diet products used to just burn fat or boost your metabolism so you burned more calories. They were fat burners. Now diet systems involve a cleanse portion as well, a metabolism booster and sometimes a natural appetite suppressant like Hoodia.
So, what is the best way to healthy weight loss? Let’s talk about what a colon cleanse can do for healthy weight loss.
Detox or cleansing is a way to clean out all the toxins, environmental pollutants, and wastes from all the drugs, toxins and chemicals ingested into our bodies. Think about all environmental poisoning from just the pesticides, insecticides and other contaminants that are on most of our foods. Think about all the chemicals in our air and water, food additives in processed food, antibiotics and more that we absorb into our cells. These environmental toxins and stresses assault our liver, blood and colon on a daily basis. Our liver removes many of these toxins, but in today’s world our liver is overloaded it just keeps dumping toxins into our colon and blood systems because it can’t take the toxic load we are giving it. Repeated exposure to these toxins, pesticides, and antibiotics can take its toll on the body resulting in suppressed immune systems, unexplained aches, depression, weight gain, loss of memory, and low levels of energy.
“The colon is a sewage system, but by neglect and abuse it becomes a cesspool. When it is clean and normal, we are well and happy; let it stagnate, and it will distill the poisons of decay, fermentation and putrefaction into the blood, poisoning the brain and nervous system so that we become mentally depressed and irritable; it will poison the heart so that we are weak and listless; poisons the lungs so that the breath is foul; poisons the digestive organs so that we are distressed and bloated; and poisons the blood so that the skin is sallow and unhealthy. In short, every organ of the body is poisoned, and we age prematurely, look and feel old, the joints are stiff and painful, neuritis, dull eyes and a sluggish brain overtake us; the pleasure of living is gone.”
- Dr. Bernard Jensen
Healthy weight loss starts with a colon cleanse. If the colon is cleansed on a regular basis it is better able to absorb nutrients into our cells. If our colon is full of compacted old waste it absorbs very little of the actual nutrients we eat. That is why the body keeps telling you that you are hungry and calls for more food. It is a vicious cycle. Healthy weight loss, weight loss that lasts, comes from fine tuning your system, starting with a colon cleanse. A good colon cleanse will eliminate most sugar and salt cravings making that healthy weight loss even easier! To keep your body running in top shape with high energy levels you should consider a colon, liver, blood and kidney cleanse once every three months or once every season. You can also buy some “health assurance” by adding a green superfood to your diet daily. That is what I call a diet! Wordpress Autoblog Plugin

Have you ever been on a diet and found yourself being totally confused about how to read food labels? Not knowing this information could be the difference between weight loss success and failure. More often than not, people who are trying to achieve a healthy weight loss will not be able to do so just because they believe everything they read. Most of us think that foods labeled “low fat” will help us lose weight. If this were really true, why didn’t anyone from the fat free diet craze of the 1980’s lose weight and keep it off? You may be shocked to discover that low fat foods may do the opposite. Yes, that is right! They can actually make us gain weight! Since the driving force behind any weight loss fad is for the manufacturer to make money, low-fat labels purposely prompt people to overindulge in several different ways. I know you are asking yourself how such a farce can actually be allowed to happen, right? All I have to say to that is keep reading! Reading Food Labels Tip #1: Portion DistortionMost people believe that an appropriate serving size for low-fat food is 30 percent larger than the full-fat version. When this happens, nearly 50 percent more calories are consumed. No matter how much fat a product says it does or does not have, remember it is all about calories. Think of it this way. Which is better for weight loss: 1,000 fat calories from butter or 1,000 fat calories from apples? Neither! They will both give you 1,000 calories. Granted, the apples will give you lots of other vitamins and minerals that will make you healthier than the butter will, but you won’t weigh any less! Reading Food Labels Tip #2: Ingredient ShiftMost of the time when fat content is reduced, carbohydrate and sugars are increased. What happens when carbohydrates and sugars don’t get burned off? Your body turns them into fat so it will have a reserve of fuel. The bottom line is that you must look at all the ingredients, not just the big text on the front of the package that says NO FAT. Diet soda is much more harmful to your body than regular soda because of the nasty ingredients they have to add to make it diet. This goes for NO CARB and NO TRANS FAT foods as well. If a company making a product feels that it needs to grab your  attention by promoting the latest weight loss fad in bold letters across the front of their package, chances are it probably is not a good choice. Reading Food Labels Tip #3: No Label Is KingWhat kinds of foods do not come pre-packaged with a label full of ingredients? Fruits and vegetables. What kinds of foods are all natural and grown from the earth we live on? Fruits and vegetables. What kinds of foods do you know will help you lose weight even though you would rather grab the box of fat free Oreos? Fruits and vegetables. Not that it needs to be said at this point, but if you can not determine if the label is saying something good or bad, put it down and head to the produce department. Fruits and vegetables are the most ideal foods you can eat for a healthy weight loss. What about protein, you say? Think soy. I lost 70 pounds and have kept it off for 15 years when I switched to a soy-protein based way of eating. Label or not, the key to a healthy weight loss is living a healthy lifestyle. Making smart decisions about what you eat, as well as exercising every day, will allow you to lead a label free life. Smart is choosing to eat an apple instead of a donut. Smart is choosing to drink a soy-based protein shake instead of a caramel whip cream latte from Starbucks. Smart is drinking green tea instead of diet Pepsi. Remember… for things to change, you have got to change. In today’s world so many people will try various weight loss pills to try and lose weight. The simple fact of the matter is that there is not one single pill that will solve all your problems. There should be only one thing you focus on when trying to shed a few extra pounds and that is healthy weight loss. Forget about the crash diets and short stints of exercise. They will not do you any good and may even hurt you. Your body needs to be slowly taken off it’s old lifestyle like an IV drip and eased into it’s new one.

When beginning a healthy weight loss regimen there are several factors that need to be addressed. These factors include: your current state of health, age, your current eating habits and physical makeup to name a few. Maintaining a low body weight and doing it in a healthy manner can cut the risk of disease like diabetes and heart disease. So, starting and following a healthy weight loss regimen is not only good for your outward appearance and self esteem, but it is also good on and for your body.

When starting your new healthy life style the are some tips that I have found to be of great benefit. For starters, you need to set a goal for yourself and it needs to be realistic and attainable. If you set a goal of losing 20 pounds by next week your just setting yourself up for failure. You need to have a more realistic goal like losing 20 pounds in two months. Next, and this may be the hardest part, you need to stock your cabinets with healthy alternatives to the junk food you may have currently. The third tip involves portion size. Your meals should be in small portions spread out throughout the day. If you currently eat three times a day, break those meals up into six smaller meals. You need to get the buffet mindset out of your head when it’s mealtime. The fourth weight loss tip and probably one of the most important is to be sure to drink ten eight ounce glasses of water a day. And finally, you need to change how you think about food. Instead of “Living to eat”, you should focus on “eating to live”.

When beginning a healthy weight loss routine, it’s a good practice to consult with a doctor to determine if there are any preexisting medical conditions you need to be aware of. It would be a real motivation killer if your new lifestyle begins to negatively affect your health because of a condition you were not aware of. One final point, I want to stress again the misconceptions of taking a pill to alleviate your weight issues. Diet pills are meant to be taken in conjunction with a healthy weight loss routine. If you do decide to take a weight loss pill, make sure you consult your physician before doing so and make sure your living a healthy lifestyle as well.
