In order to achieve healthy weight loss and keep it off for good, the most important thing to remember is you are what you eat. You have heard that a million times I’m sure, but it’s the absolute truth. If you eat nothing but junk food, you will be a walking example of bad health. Sad but true, but the good news is that it works the same way when you lead a healthy lifestyle. Most people don’t understand how they woke up one day and suddenly found themselves fat and lethargic. That’s because poor food choices made on a daily basis is something that creeps up on you. One cheeseburger won’t kill you, but one cheeseburger every day plus all those fries that are also OK to eat with them add up. There is no magic pill that will ever be invented to allow you to eat garbage without it taking a toll on your body. If you want to achieve healthy weight loss and keep it off for good, you have to lead a healthy lifestyle and there is no other way around it. You do not have to give up the junk foods you love, but you do have to limit your consumption and replace them with choices that coincide with your plan of action. Here are 6 fat burning foods that should help you with your healthy weight loss goals. Healthy Weight Loss Food #1: Soy ProteinProtein takes a lot of effort for the body to break down and digest…even more than fat. So while your body is working hard to process that protein, you’re burning calories. The best type of protein for healthy weight loss is soy-based. A soybean is the closest thing you can get to a magic weight loss pill. I start every day with a soy-based protein shake to ensure I am getting the best nutrition money can buy…and I don’t miss the donuts and bagels one bit! Healthy Weight Loss Food #2: Whole GrainsBelly fat is not attractive or healthy on anyone, and whole grains can really go to work on that stubborn flab around your midsection. One of the most efficient ways to get whole grains into your diet is through supplements because you don’t have to eat tons of oatmeal to get the your daily requirement. (Even though a bowl of grape nuts with fresh strawberries and blueberries every once in a while is hard to resist!) Healthy Weight Loss Food #3: GrapefruitYou have to have grown up in a cave far away from civilization to not have been told that Vitamin C is good for you. Along with the powerful antioxidant benefits, this vitamin helps burn fat. The next time you’re looking for a cool snack on a hot day, dig into a juicy grapefruit. It will help to lower insulin levels, which keeps you from being hungry all the time! Too sour? Sprinkle it with Splenda (not sugar). The goal here is to lose weight. Healthy Weight Loss Food #4: Green TeaGreen tea is the first thing I drink in the morning when I wake up, and I usually drink another cup in the afternoon just because of its awesome health benefits. This superdrink helps us lose weight by raising our metabolism, which will burn off calories faster than you ever imagined. Hot or cold, don’t let a day go by without using it to your healthy weight loss advantage. Fat Burning Food #5: WaterOK…it’s not really a food, but it’s important to drink lots of water if you’re trying to burn fat. This is the ingredient that people miss the most. Your body can’t work effectively if it’s dehydrated, so it’s extremely important to keep a bottle of water with you at all times. Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it and thank yourself when you do. And no, soda pop (regular or diet) is not a healthy alternative. Healthy Weight Loss Food #6: ApplesAn apple a day keeps the doctor away. Why don’t we ever listen to what we are told when we are kids? Apples and other water-rich fruits will make your diet plan more effective. The pectin contained in apples limits how much fat your cells can absorb. How awesome is that?! Plus, it’s a naturally soluble fiber, which is always good. Forget about counting carbs and calories in packaged snacks. Just grab an apple. As you can obviously tell, there are many food options we tend to overlook on our journey to a healthy weight loss. Most people focus on trying every new product they see advertised on tv without remembering that it’s always good to just stick with the basics. People 2, 3 and 4 decades ago did not have the technological advances we have today, and obesity was practically unheard of. Think about what they ate, and think about what you eat. For things to change, you have got to change. Continue Reading »We all know how important protein is to any diet, whether you are trying to achieve a healthy weight loss or not. Certain fad diets tell people its OK to go out and eat as much greasy bacon as you want, as long as you stay away from those killer carbohydrates. As you probably have already figured out, this type of diet does not work. The main reason is that the source of protein comes from animal fats, and eating too much of it will take its toll on your health. Be very thankful that we have soy in our world. It is the healthy alternative to animal protein for many many reasons. The incorporation of even just a small amount of soy protein into the diet every day is beneficial in the prevention of all kinds of diseases. What does that have to do with losing weight? Everything! The key to healthy weight loss is proper nutrition. Once your body is healthy on a daily basis, it can perform miracles. Living a healthy lifestyle means choosing soy over bacon when you want to give your body protein fuel. When you feed your body the right way, you will get the results you want. Soy contains more protein than milk without the saturated fat or cholesterol. Soya beans are the only beans to be considered a complete protein because they contain all eight essential amino acids. Soy protein contains high levels of a substance called Tyrosine, which helps to maintain our alertness and mental energy without the need for excess calories. Soy is a low-glycemic index food which helps regulate blood-sugar and insulin fluctuations. This helps you to feel more satisfied and less hungry until your next meal, which is beneficial for weight management and control. Some studies even indicate that soy may stimulate the metabolism! How cool is that! Soy also helps reduce the amount of fat that is stored in your body by converting fewer calories into fat from the food that you consume. Soy protein can also control insulin levels therefore reducing the frequency of sugar cravings. Since your body will feel more satisfied and less hungry, this will also reduce the overindulgent eating. Soy also enhances energy levels and building muscle mass in a healthy way. Muscles burn energy during daily activities and exercise. Increased muscle mass burns more calories. Since soy increases the speed at which the fat cells burn the fat stored in the body, it once again affects your metabolism. Exercise is not mandatory for a healthy weight loss, but even the smallest workout every day can accelerate your weight loss efforts. I had chronic asthma all of my life and could not exercise…until I began drinking soy-based protein shake meal replacements. I lost 70 pounds in 4 months and have kept it off for over 15 years now. The best part is that because of the benefits of soy, I can now exercise every day without any breathing problems. I was also able to get rid of all my prescription medications on top of it. Do I have to drink a soy-based shake every day? No, I do not have to. If I want to go back to being overweight with breathing problems, I suppose I could stop using soy. But why would I ever want to do that? As I stated before, the key to a healthy weight loss and maintaining an ideal weight is the willingness to lead a healthy lifestyle. You can not lose weight and expect to go back to old bad eating habits without suffering the consequences. A great advantage to living a healthy lifestyle is that you do not need to give up the foods you love. You can sill eat them, just not as often. You must replace some of those foods with healthier alternatives. The road to a healthy weight loss is littered with all kinds of snack wrappers, like soy nuts, protein bars and fruit. (OK, fruit usually doesn’t need a wrapper, but you get my point. Since fad diets, unbalanced diets, diet pills, diet supplements, weight loss surgery and other short term weight loss methods are the cheaters way to lose weight, why bother? Cheaters never prosper and there is no substitute for proper nutrition. Take advantage of the many benefits soy can give to you and you will soon find yourself living the kind of life you deserve. Continue Reading »Lifestyle modifications are the foundation of any successful long-term weight loss plan (eating less and moving more), but requires daily focus and discipline. It’s not surprising that Americans want some sort of miracle cure packaged nicely in one little healthy weight loss supplement. As time goes on and technology improves, people become more and more willing to look for a fix rather than a solution. Since there are too many choices out there to compare regarding healthy weight loss supplements, it all comes down to two questions: Are Weight-loss supplements safe? and Do they work? The answer is in the ingredients and the testimonials of people who have taken them. All -natural products will not get people addicted to anything outside of wanting to live healthier. So many medications and drugs people take come wtih complications and side effects. What happens when your body gets something all-natural is that it begins to heal itself in a non-addictive way. Many weight loss programs encourage users to reduce their calories and exercise more for the best results. While most people can benefit from both of these lifestyle changes, what you want are all-natural healthy weight loss supplements that work regardless of physical activity. After all, some of us can’t exercise due to an injury, and some of us have severe asthma, or other health challenges. You must also stay away from any one miracle product claiming to solve all of your problems. The human body is complex and requires targeted products that focus on individual areas in order to aid the body as a whole. Doctors can only give people the best estimate of their problems, so how could a little pill perform mircales that humans can’t? Since the soil today is depleted of minerals and animals are injected with hormones, the foods that we once thought were healthy aren’t so much anymore. Fruit and vegetables get picked way before they have had a chance to properly grow just do they can make it to the grocery stand, and we are missing out on all the nutrition we should be getting. Healthy weight loss supplements are the only way to finish the job. Most of the time people try to take shortcuts by taking weight loss pills without eating properly, thinking it’s better to find an easy way out tha to get to the root of the problem. When it doesn’t work out, they blame the pill instead of themselves for making poor choices. This is how people have come to think that weight loss supplements are a scam. There is nothing wrong with being skeptical, but most companies that provide good quality healthy weight loss supplements have scientists developing their products for your benefit. Take advantage of that. They are providing you with something you cannot find in stores. It always amazes me how people can be so skeptical about products that contain all-natural ingredients, yet they will devour double cheeseburgers and french fries without even thinking about it…and they already know it’s bad for them! With proper nutrition and targeted healthy weight loss supplements using all natural ingredients, your body has the ability to do amazing things. It can heal itself quicker than someonewho is eating poorly, and it is the only way a person can become well enough to stop using medications. I personally lost 70 pounds and have kept it off for over 15 years and stopped taking my prescription asthma medications simply by providing myself with proper nutrition using healthy weight loss supplements. Losing weight is definitely possible with all-natural healthy weight loss supplements, but in order to keep it off for good you must learn to make it a lifestyle change and continue on a healthy path to overall wellness. You cannot take supplements designed to help you lose weight, then go out and eat junk food all day long. It just will not work. The best thing you can do to begin to understand how all-natural healthy weight loss supplements work for weight loss is that they provide proper nutrition, and what happens when you give your body the right nutrients and vitamins? It naturally begins to lose weight and heal itself. The only scam going on is when you try to trick your body into thinking it can function properly without proper nutrition. Continue Reading »No matter what stop light your car is parked at, chances are good that you can look over at any of the four street corners and see a fast food restaurant. Despite all of the technical advances and knowledge we are equipped with to help us lead healthy lifestyles, temptation is keeping our nation fat and a soaring need for healthy weight loss for over 65% of Americans. One cheeseburger won’t hurt us in the long run, we say, but ten years later we wonder how we became obese. Another factor helping America achieve the status of being the fattest nation in the world, and an alarming need for healthy weight loss, is fad diets. We eat cheeseburgers, tacos and fried chicken at all of these fast food restaurants, then jump on whatever fad diet train that conveniently passes by in order to try and cheat our way back to good health. All it seems to be doing is making us even fatter. I struggled with being overweight for twenty years before finally realizing that cheaters never prosper, and it goes double when dealing with your health. I spent over $2,000 on various weight loss programs only to lose 60 pounds and gain back 80 pounds. The only logical solution I could come up with was that there was something wrong with me personally or I was using the wrong weight loss programs. But thankfully, I’m not the type of person who gives up. When I finally woke up and realized that there will never be some sort of miracle cure packaged nicely in one little healthy weight loss supplement that will help anyone lose weight, things became clear. In order to lose weight and keep it off for good, I had to face the fact that lifestyle changes must be made and I had to find a healthy weight loss program that would work for me. Lifestyle modifications are the foundation of any successful long-term weight loss plan (eating less and moving more), and they require daily focus and discipline. I had chronic asthma all of my life and could not exercise or even breathe heavy, yet I still found a way to lose 70 pounds 15 years ago and have been medication free ever since. For me there was no other choice. It all came down to making simple decisions on a daily basis. The way I lost weight was by replacing high-fat and high-sugar foods with proper nutrition and targeted vitamins made from all natural ingredients. Specifically, I began replacing unhealthy meals with a soy-based protein shake that gave my body all of the proper nutrition that a huge high-calorie meal gives you, minus the salt, sugar and fat. Proper nutrition and less calories equals healthy weight loss. Did I give up the foods I love? No. I just don’t eat them quite so often. One of the biggest misconceptions that I have encountered since beginning to help people in their healthy weight loss journey is that all you have to do is eat vegetables and fruits to get the nutrition you need. Although these foods are a much healthier alternative than low-fat potato chips and cookies, you still have to eat too much of them to get the nutrition of a scientifically formulated protein shake. Calories are calories no matter what the food source is, and the more you consume, the more you will gain weight. One 200 calorie soy-based protein meal replacement shake, for example, could be packed with all the nutrients found in eating 2,000 calories worth of food. The human body is complex and requires many different needs for all of your problems which cannot be solved with one little weight loss pill. Treating each organ individually so that it functions at its optimum performance is the safest way to achieve an overall wellness of the body. By taking an all-natural products targeted to help me breathe better, I was soon able to get off all of my asthma medications while achieving the weight loss I wanted. Another reason why I was successful at losing weight and keeping it off was because I had a support system. My coach had been where I was, and struggled in the same ways to achieve weight loss. Because he was part of the program I began, my coach’s success was dependent on my success. And that is why I am so successful at helping people lose weight now. I have been there before and I know what it’s like. The best part about the meal replacements and supplements I have conditioned myself to take every day to keep me healthy is the cost. It is cheaper for me to get the best nutrition possible into my system than it is to buy the extra value meal at any given fast food restaurant. How can you beat spending $3.50 per meal without putting your health at risk. It is important that you understand the importance of making healthy choices as a new way of life. It is extremely difficult in America today to find the road to good health and stay on it, but you must if you want to achieve healthy weight loss and keep it off for good. Do not let poor food and diet choices rob you of living the best life you can live. For things to change, you’ve got to change. Continue Reading »Anyone struggling to lose weight may be focusing all of their energy on the wrong thing…food! It is equally important to make sure you are drinking liquids that accelerate healthy weight loss. Staying hydrated is essential for your body. What you drink can effect your mood and focus not to mention your health. If you pick the right drinks, you will benefit from the nutrients, antioxidants and proteins that will help with a healthy weight loss. Americans in general are problem drinkers. We crave high-sugar, high-calorie drinks like sodas and smoothies. Over 20 percent of American’s calorie intake comes from drinks such as soda pop, fruit punches, and the oh-so trendy Starbuck lattes. We are becoming obese because of all these extra calories we do not need. The next time you feel thirsty and have trouble determining whether or not a drink is healthy, refer to the list below. Healthy Weight Loss Drink #1: Water Water is a crucial part of healthy weight loss success. Forget flavored energy drinks and expensive bottled water. Remember the free stuff that comes out of your kitchen sink? We all grew up on this stuff and no one became unhealthy because of it, yet for some reason we flock to the store to buy it in a bottle just because a television commerical tells us to. If you think your tap water is full of impurities, buy a Brita water purifying pitcher or some type of water filter. The main point here is that pure water is healthier than any kind of diet soda or energy drink you can pay for. Drink up to 8 glasses a day and you will notice an acceleration in your weight loss. Healthy Weight Loss Drink #2: Pomegranate Juice Drinking concentrated pomegranate juice may reduce cholesterol and blood pressure while slowing down LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) oxidation. Because they contain beneficial antioxidants, they rid your body of harmful free radicals that can slow down any weight loss program. The healthier your body is, the better it can perform. Pomegranate juice is safe to drink, but just like anything else you should not over-indulge. Most studies have shown that a daily helping of 1.5 oz. of pomegranate juice is the most beneficial. Anti-oxidants are found in bright colored fruits like red grapes. Unlike pomegranate juice, be careful when drinking grape juice. Manufacturers tend to add a lot of sugar into fruit juices so they seem healthy, but they really are not. Healthy Weight Loss Drink #3: Green Tea Green tea is one of the drinks I use on a daily basis that contributes to helping me keep an ideal weight after losing 70 pounds 15 years ago. Just like pomegranite juice, it is full of powerful antioxidants that give your body the very best fuel a drink can possibly give. Depending on the manufacturer, green tea comes in all kinds of flavors. One cup of green tea every morning gives me enough energy to last all day long. It is a natural energy, unlike the sugar rush you get from fitness drinks and coffee, so you never feel let down as the day goes on. Energy is obviously important for weight loss because the more you move around, the more calories you will burn. Healthy Weight Loss Drink #4: Soy-Based Protein Shakes Along with green tea, soy-based protein shakes are responsible for my weight loss and weight maintenance. Imagine getting 2,000 calories worth of nutrition in a 200 calorie smoothie. Your body gets what it needs without the excess baggage that comes with eating tons of food. It is the closest thing to a magic weight loss potion that you will find. Depending on how much weight you need to lose, this drink acts as a meal replacement. Obese people who need to lose over 100 pounds should obviously replace each meal with a shake, and those maintaining weight should replace at least one. I would never let a day go by without one of these powerful drinks. Why would I? I have been at my ideal weight and medication free ever since I introduced them into my diet. The bottom line here is that you must pay attention to what you drink as much as what you eat if you are trying to lose or maintain a healthy weight. Start by replacing what you are now drinking with any or all of the suggestions above. Living a healthy lifestyle is the key to reaching your healthy weight loss goals. That requires the mindset of person willing to make small changes on a daily basis. You are what you eat…and drink! Continue Reading »How many diet books have you read that promised a new, miraculous way to help you finally shed your extra pounds? Maybe it’s a little pill that is supposed to suppress your appetite or a fancy new piece of exercise equipment that people buy into because they are looking for an easy way out. The reason these fads never work is because cheaters never prosper in life, and you simply cannot have a healthy weight loss and keep it off for good overnight. No matter how they masquerade it, the core of any successful healthy weight loss program always comes down to the same philosophy: live a healthy lifestyle. Proper nutrition combined with exercise on a daily basis is the winning combination. And yet, we still manage to screw it up. In an attempt to cut through all the obstacles, here is a list of the most common myths people believe that sabotage their healthy weight loss goals. Healthy Weight Loss Myth #1: It doesn’t matter what you eat, as long as you eat less. If all foods were made the same, we would all be living on chocolate chip cookies and root beer floats. Unfortunately, the human body is complex and needs a variety of nutrients to work at its best. When you begin a diet by eating less calories than your body is used to, proper nutrition is a must. This becomes even more important when you add exercise into the mix. If you want to achieve a healthy weight loss, your body needs to function as well as it possibly can. Taking a soy-based meal replacement shake and daily vitamin in addition to an healthy food choices and fitness regimen is how I not only lose 70 pounds 15 years ago, but I also was able to get off all my asthma medications. The body can perform miracles when you provide it with proper nutrition. Healthy Weight Loss Myth #2: The less you eat, the better your results. If you are not getting enough calories, your body will use fat as fuel, but it can only do so much of this before serious breakdown happens in your muscles.,so you really need to stay above 1,200 calories. Since your body is complex, it kind of has a body has a mind of its own. If you deprive it of food long enough, it is going to panic and hold on to its emergency fuel supplies (fat) in hopes of riding out the difficult period of starvation. Healthy Weight Loss Myth #3: High Proteins And Fats Are A Healthy Way To Lose Weight. Reducing your intake of carboydrates can be okay in moderation, but when you eliminate them completely you are cutting off your primary fuel source. Athletes and active people cannot function properly on this sort of a diet. So unless you plan on spending your time lying on the sofa watching tv, this approach won’t work. Exercise is extremely important and there is never going to be a way around that. Without it you might be able to lose weight but you will not look as healthy. Healthy Weight Loss Myth #4: Fruits And Vegetables Are Bad This thought process comes from the whole glycemic index (GI) craze. GI proponents say that most fruits and vegetables are low in fiber but high in sugar, so they should be avoided. This is complete nonsense. First of all, eating fresh fruits and vegetables is what man evolved on for millions of years, and people were never fat until recently. Why would these natural foods all of a sudden be bad for you? Too much of any one food can take it’s toll on the human body, but you don’t have to be a certified nutritionist to determine that a handful of grapes is 1,000 times healthier than a handful of potato chips. Fresh produce is loaded with vitamins and minerals, not to mention fiber. Go ahead and try to find an overweight person whose biggest indulgence is a banana. (Not dipped in chocolate, of course!) Healthy Weight Loss Myth #5: Fat Free And Sugar Free Products Are HealthyAny fat free or sugar free version of your favorite junk food is nothing but a sneaky marketing ploy designed to cash in on another diet craze that did not work. Fat free does not mean sugar free and vice-versa. Cotton candy is fat free but people can not lose weight on it. Butter is sugar free but you would not want to eat it by the spoonful as part of a healthy weight loss program. A little common sense is required in order to lead a healthy lifestyle. Never judge a book (food) by it’s cover (package). As soon as the next diet craze reveals itself, there will surely be another set of myths to dispel. There is no mystery behind healthy weight loss anymore, no matter how the next so called expert tries to repackage information you already know. For a truly healthy weight loss and maintenance thereafter, focus on creating a daily diet of a soy-based meal replacement shake, smart meal and snack choices that include fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains and lean protein…and of course, exercise. Eating too much of any one food is not the best way to achieve a healthy weight loss, we all know that. But some foods eaten on a regular basis can provide you with enough health benefits that they will begin to actually accelerate your healthy weight loss! No, I’m not talking about eating as much bacon as you can stuff into your mouth like some of these fad diets convince people to do. I’m talking about bananas! Here are six benefits the trusty banana can provide you to achieve a healthy weight loss: Healthy Weight Loss Benefit #1: Bananas Give You EnergyEven though it does not come with a fancy packaging promising you anything, a banana will give an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy because it contains three natural sugars – sucrose, fructose and glucose. Just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. The banana is not the number one fruit with the world’s leading athletes for nothing! Healthy Weight Loss Benefit #2: Bananas Provide Vitamins & MineralsVitamins are the cornerstone to good health, and the banana is packed with mostly everything the body needs. The vitamin B6 that a banana contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood. Its extremely high levels of iron and potassium reduces the risk of blood pressure and lowers the desire to snack on high carbohydrate foods. Since potassium is a vital mineral that sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body’s water balance, you can see how important it is for healthy weight loss. Healthy Weight Loss Benefit #3: Bananas Promote OptimismBananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system control our blood sugar. Since they also contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, bananas will improve your mood and generally make you feel happier. The happier you are, the more likely you will stick with your healthy weight loss program with positive thoughts about reaching your goals. Healthy Weight Loss Benefit #4: Bananas Are Rich With FiberIncluding bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives. Fiber is important for healthy weight loss because it helps absorb fat and helps the body so it functions at the optimal level. Bananas have the ability to neutralize over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach! Healthy Weight Loss Benefit #5: Bananas Are A Healthy AlternativeWhen you compare it to an apple, a banana has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. That makes it one of the best value foods around. Don’t ever fall victim to the many fad diets out there that tell you an all-natural banana is bad for you. You’ll be hard pressed to find a healthier alternative. Healthy Weight Loss Benefit #6: Bananas Are Easily AccessibleMost people think about just the health benefits of a food, but never stop to think that the reason America is obese is because they just don’t make the time to stop and think. A banana is the ultimate fast food. It’s even faster to eat than pulling up to a drive through window and waiting for that greasy cheeseburger that you think is your only choice when you’re in a hurry. Being active is an important part of a healthy weight loss program. Bananas are quick and easy to eat at any given moment. Even with its over-abundance of benefits, you obviously can not go around eating bananas all day long as your healthy weight loss plan of action and expect successful results. No one food has it all, that is why it is important to incorporate a variety of healthy foods into your lifestyle. Most people fail to achieve their healthy weight loss goals because they grab a fat free processed snack loaded with preservatives instead of an all-natural fruit from the earth. I lost 70 pounds in 4 months and have kept it off for over 15 years, and the almighty banana has been by my side the entire time. Understanding the importance of soy-based protein, I start every day off with a meal replacement shake and a banana is always thrown into the mix for good measure. It is all part of making healthy choices when you are serious about losing weight safely and keeping it off for good.
