Healthy weight loss is a gradual process. Do not expect it to be a walk in the park, whether you aim to simply drop a dress size, or one hundred pounds, it will take drastic changes in your lifestyle and a high level of commitment. Healthy weight loss is the single best way to lose weight. It is safe, natural, and permanent weight loss. Often when a person loses weight quickly they aren’t actually losing fat but rather water and muscle from their body instead. With any healthy weight loss plans a person should be aiming to lose around 1 to 2 pounds of weight each week.Healthy LifestyleHealthy weight loss is more of a lifestyle choice than a simple diet. Living a healthy lifestyle can be simple and easy to do, through a variety of ideas, tips and resources and by focusing on the things people who manage to lose weight and keep it off have in common. But at the end of the day, healthy weight loss is, and will always be first and foremost, about : eating right, exercising, and having a lifestyle, which promotes good health and nutrition. Healthy FoodsHow much money, time and energy have you wasted on ridiculous diets, diet programs, diet products that all claim to be diets that work, only to find that years down the track you still aren’t the Slenderella they promised you, you’d be. By understanding healthy foods, they have the foundations to build on and protect their health throughout their lives, without the need to resort to crash diets. ExercisesLosing weight, if we are talking about healthy weight loss, is a way towards having a better functional, stronger body, not just because of the actual loss of those extra pounds, but also because it gets our bodies used to keeping to a healthy diet and a regime of fitness exercises. Add just a few exercises at first, focusing on basic compound movements and push/pull exercises in which you move more than one joint, with one to two sets each of eight to 12 repetitions. If your exercise routine is in need of a jump start, or if you find yourself not making the progress that you want to, try adding some resistance training exercises into your routine. However, generally the large muscles of the lower body are trained before the smaller muscles of the upper body, because these exercises require more mental and physical energy. ConclusionHealthy weight loss is about eating sensibly and healthily, helping you feel good inside and out. Healthy weight loss is about energising yourself, and equipping you to maintain a healthy weight not just for a month of two, but for years and years. The worst thing a person can do when they lose weight is revert back to their old eating habits that got them fat in the first place. Dodging the lure of fat, sugar and other appetite triggers is just as important as making healthy choices when you decided to lose weight. Healthy weight loss is an accomplishment worth celebrating, but if you choose to do it by going back to junk food, you’ll find yourself fat again…and fast! You might be suprised to know that certain foods you may think are healthy are the same foods that can sabotage all of your healthy weight loss efforts. If you want to keep that slender figure you worked so hard for, you must lead a healthy lifestyle and stay away from the following foods. Healthy Weight Loss Sabotage Food #1: Trigger FoodsEating certain foods will make you even more hungry. These appetite stimulating foods are designed to make you want to devour a whole box, package or bag in one sitting. Remember the slogan for Lays potato chips? If not, it went like this: You can’t eat just one! That is nothing but the absolute truth, twisted to their benefit, but true! Chips, and any food that has been stripped of its fiber turn to sugar quickly in the body, hit your bloodstream rapidly and cause your blood sugar to soar sky high. In response to that sugar surge, your body churns out so much that it drives your blood sugar below where it was before you ate anything. When blood sugar is low, you feel hungry and in need of more of the same kind of food. Healthy Weight Loss Sabotage Food #2: High Fat and Sugar FoodsChoosing to eat foods with high sugar and fat content can wreak havoc on your attempts to manage your weight. Ever eat a donut and wonder why you feel tired a half hour later? When a food contains both fat and sugar, as many trigger foods do, it provides a rush and then lets you down even lower than before you took your first bite. Natural foods like fruits and vegetables are digested more slowly and will cause fewer spikes in your blood sugar. This is something that you will have to really make a conscious effort to do. It’s a lot easier to grab a doughnut at the office than it is to pack a snack bag full of carrots. However, once you train yourself to lose your fat and sugar tooth, you will be in better control of your cravings. Healthy Weight Loss Sabotage Food #3: Animal ProductsContrary to popular belief, the protein found in animal products will not satisfy your hunger drive. Beef, poultry, pork, and fish contain exactly 0% carbohydrates. If you lost weight on a high protein diet sourced by animal products, you are not getting enough unrefined carbs, responsible for triggering your brain to tell you when to stop eating. This is not a good thing when it comes to animal products. Animal products, even the lean ones, contain artery-clogging, disease-causing saturated fat and cholesterol. Animal meat can quickly hike up those fat calories just like most dairy products, sabotaging weight loss and weight maintenance. Want to get lots of protein without all the side effects of animal products? Try anything with soy. It’s all-natural and the healthiest choice for maintaining an ideal weight. Healthy Weight Loss Sabotage Food #4: CheeseBecause dairy products are packed with fat, they are your enemies in the weight loss game. Most cheeses are 70% fat or more, and fat-free version is probably loaded with a whole bunch of preservatives that make it unhealthy. Animals get their calcium for strong bones and teeth from plants, so why shouldn’t people do the same.? Unrefined plant foods contain all the nutrients, vitamins, minerals, and micro-nutrients you need, including calcium. Nature is smart for our benefit. Healthy Weight Loss Sabotage Food #5: AlcoholNot only does alcohol contain extra calories that you don’t get from choosing other drinks, but it also triggers the desire to eat snack foods. These two work hand in hand. Why do you think bartenders set bowls of free pretzels and peanuts out for their customers? Because the more you eat these salty, unhealthy foods, the more you want to drink, and vice versa. Do yourself a favor and keep your alcohol consumption to the occasional drink every few months. Healthy weight loss and maintenance doesn’t work for most people because they are unwilling to change their lifestyle. It is not an easy thing to do, but it’s a must if you want to get off the emotional and physical roller coaster of yo-yo dieting. Once your weight is off and you are making healthy eating decisions on a daily basis, you won’t even want to revert back to your old habits. All that is required is a strong enough desire and a commitment to follow through. For things to change, you’ve got to change. Those based on a particular food or drink can be unsafe due to missing nutrients that the body requires to function properly or rebuild. Diets are not subject to strict quality control measures. Anyone can develop a diet and make outrageous claims. A diet can make a claim like “Lose 10 pounds in 3 Days” if they can show that one person did on the diet, or even if based on some skewed research or study the system should work to do that. This is not false advertisement at that point. The liver and the kidneys work together to burn the stored fat you have into energy, this is called metabolism. The higher your metabolism the more weight you lose and another benefit of high metabolism is that you can still eat your favourite means because you will be losing weight whilst eating. Other ways to increase your metabolism are exercising, eating small and frequent meals and also drinking water. Water pumps the kidneys harder which make the process of metabolism even better. While there are many good diet and exercise programs that can help you shed unwanted weight, many of these programs can compromise and risk your health. Sometimes it’s the simplest things that get the job done. Here are 7 healthy weight loss tips to help you shed some extra pounds.1. Cut down on fat and salt intake (found in most fast foods). Fast foods are big contributor to increasing number of obesity these days. High levels of fat and salt are also a risk factor for stroke, heart attack and kidney disease.2. Exercise regularly. If you can, allocate an hour in the morning for exercise. Exercise in the morning helps to raise your metabolic rate better. You will have more energy throughout the day and your body is able to burn fat more efficiently.3. Do not skip breakfast. Having a proper breakfast is important, especially if you exercise in the morning. Regular exercise in the morning and proper breakfast will set up the metabolism in your body to start and maintain a fat burning process.4. Eat plenty of fruits and fresh vegetables daily. Stay away from red meats, instead choose low fat and high protein meats such as poultry and fish. Stay away from high-carb foods like rice, pasta, bread and cereal.5. Drink plenty of water daily. Water can help cleanse your body and keep it hydrated. Your body will have more energy and flexibility when you get the right amount of water and properly hydrated every day. This is the most basic thing in weight loss but unfortunately few people are actually doing it.6. Spread out your meals and eat more frequently in small portions. For example, instead of eating 3 big meals each day, spread them out in small portions and eat them every 2 to 3 hours. This will keep your metabolism working and burning fat throughout the day.7. Set realistic goals. Write your goal down. Be specific and strive to accomplish them. For example, “I will eat smaller portion of foods and walk for 30 minutes every day”. Continue Reading »We all know how important protein is to any diet, whether you are trying to achieve a healthy weight loss or not. Certain fad diets tell people its OK to go out and eat as much greasy bacon as you want, as long as you stay away from those killer carbohydrates. As you probably have already figured out, this type of diet does not work. The main reason is that the source of protein comes from animal fats, and eating too much of it will take its toll on your health. Be very thankful that we have soy in our world. It is the healthy alternative to animal protein for many many reasons. The incorporation of even just a small amount of soy protein into the diet every day is beneficial in the prevention of all kinds of diseases. What does that have to do with losing weight? Everything! The key to healthy weight loss is proper nutrition. Once your body is healthy on a daily basis, it can perform miracles. Living a healthy lifestyle means choosing soy over bacon when you want to give your body protein fuel. When you feed your body the right way, you will get the results you want. Soy contains more protein than milk without the saturated fat or cholesterol. Soya beans are the only beans to be considered a complete protein because they contain all eight essential amino acids. Soy protein contains high levels of a substance called Tyrosine, which helps to maintain our alertness and mental energy without the need for excess calories. Soy is a low-glycemic index food which helps regulate blood-sugar and insulin fluctuations. This helps you to feel more satisfied and less hungry until your next meal, which is beneficial for weight management and control. Some studies even indicate that soy may stimulate the metabolism! How cool is that! Soy also helps reduce the amount of fat that is stored in your body by converting fewer calories into fat from the food that you consume. Soy protein can also control insulin levels therefore reducing the frequency of sugar cravings. Since your body will feel more satisfied and less hungry, this will also reduce the overindulgent eating. Soy also enhances energy levels and building muscle mass in a healthy way. Muscles burn energy during daily activities and exercise. Increased muscle mass burns more calories. Since soy increases the speed at which the fat cells burn the fat stored in the body, it once again affects your metabolism. Exercise is not mandatory for a healthy weight loss, but even the smallest workout every day can accelerate your weight loss efforts. I had chronic asthma all of my life and could not exercise…until I began drinking soy-based protein shake meal replacements. I lost 70 pounds in 4 months and have kept it off for over 15 years now. The best part is that because of the benefits of soy, I can now exercise every day without any breathing problems. I was also able to get rid of all my prescription medications on top of it. Do I have to drink a soy-based shake every day? No, I do not have to. If I want to go back to being overweight with breathing problems, I suppose I could stop using soy. But why would I ever want to do that? As I stated before, the key to a healthy weight loss and maintaining an ideal weight is the willingness to lead a healthy lifestyle. You can not lose weight and expect to go back to old bad eating habits without suffering the consequences. A great advantage to living a healthy lifestyle is that you do not need to give up the foods you love. You can sill eat them, just not as often. You must replace some of those foods with healthier alternatives. The road to a healthy weight loss is littered with all kinds of snack wrappers, like soy nuts, protein bars and fruit. (OK, fruit usually doesn’t need a wrapper, but you get my point. Since fad diets, unbalanced diets, diet pills, diet supplements, weight loss surgery and other short term weight loss methods are the cheaters way to lose weight, why bother? Cheaters never prosper and there is no substitute for proper nutrition. Take advantage of the many benefits soy can give to you and you will soon find yourself living the kind of life you deserve. Healthy Weight Loss Super-Food #1: SteakBeef has a reputation of being a bad for our diet, but it’s a good choice for dinner when you want to shed unwanted pounds. People who include red meat into their diet generally lose more weight than those eating other foods of equal calories. As an added benefit, protein in steak helps retain muscle mass during weight loss. Want the best results? Go for the local organic beef. Healthy Weight Loss Super-Food #2: EggsEggs (including the yolk) can help you trim inches without harming your heart. An egg each morning can allow you to lose twice as many pounds as the alternative of a bagel breakfast with the same number of calories. Egg protein is quite filling, so as a result you eat less later in the day. Omelets and scrambles are obvious choices, but if you can’t cook before work, grab a soy-protein shake and save your eggs for the weekend. Healthy Weight Loss Super-Food #3: KaleBirds love it, and have you ever seen a fat bird? Kale should always find a place somewhere on your dinner plate. One cup contains only 34 calories while providing you with a hearty helping of iron and calcium. Not into kale’s earthy flavor? Try spinach as an alternative. It’s just as nutrient dense, but with a milder-taste. Healthy Weight Loss Super-Food #4: Buckwheat pastaForget all those diets that tell you carbohydrates are bad. You need them for fuel or else your body will start grabbing it from your muscles. Instead of going for plain noodles, try buckwheat. It is higher in fiber and unlike most carbohydrate-rich foods, it contains protein! These two nutrients make it very satiating, so it’s harder to overeat than regular pasta. Healthy Weight Loss Super-Food #5: PomegranatesPomegranate seeds are loaded with folate and disease-fighting antioxidants. They’re low in calories and high in fiber, so they satisfy your sweet tooth without ruining your healthy weight loss efforts. The only ones that you should limit are those baked and refried because they contain tons of saturated fat and sugar. Healthy Weight Loss Super-Food #7: OatmealWhile it may not be the tastiest thing you can eat, oatmeal definitely has fat burning qualities. It helps lower your cholesterol level and blood cholesterol because of it’s abundance of soluble fiber. Just like beans, you can’t always go for Americanized version, you know the yummy apples and cinnamon version loaded with butter and sugar. If regular oatmeal tastes too bland, sweeten your bowl by adding fruit, honey or cranberries. Healthy Weight Loss Super-Food #8: Olive OilOlive oil is one of those good fats that your body needs. It’s so good, in fact, that it helps you burn fat and keeps your cholesterol down. Rich in monounsaturated fat, olive oil provides outstanding health benefits. Healthy Weight Loss Super-Food #9: Green TeaWant to talk about anti-oxidants? It doesn’t get any better than this. Green tea not only provides you with enough natural energy to last throughout the day, but it is loaded with antioxidants and helps accelerate your metabolism. Stop drinking 3 cups of coffee every morning and switch to one cup of this super food. You’ll watch your pounds melt away while feeling energetic at the same time. Of course, all of these foods should be accompanied with a daily exercise regimen in order for them to be the most effective for healthy weight loss. Cardiovascular exercise burns calories and building muscle burns fat.
